2020 – BACK TO THE 5th EDITION OF THE RALLYE ENTRE 2 MERS

DISCOVERY RALLY & RACETRACK DRIVING SESSIONS,
FROM SAINT-EMILION TO MONACO

Back on the 5th Rally Entre 2 Mers 2020

On Sunday, October 4, the sixty or so teams registered for the Rallye Entre 2 Mers 2020 gathered at the Château Hôtel Grand Barrail in Saint-Emilion, to dress their cars in the colors of Lamborghini and Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis, partners of this 5th edition. unprecedented in the direction of Monaco and with 4 stages, 1200km and above all 3 racing circuits scheduled for this week’s program.

A short prologue, contested in a rather humid climate in the vineyards of Saint-Emilion, offered two tasting stops where the Petrossian caviars were invited to the Rol Valentin and Château de Pressac estates to mark the start of the rally.

The first stage took the participants from the vines of Libournais to the Circuit de Haute Saintonge, imagined by Jean-Pierre Beltoise and discovering, in complete safety, on this hilly route where the rain came in even more and made the event complex behind. the ruffles. After the lunch break, the descent to the south south allowed for a coffee break accompanied by a disputed road test before arriving at Château des Vigiers.

The second stage, the longest of the rally, in the beautiful regions of Périgord, Quercy and the gorges of the Aveyron announced an itinerary in the heart of the villages of Monbazillac, Monpazier and Biron before reaching the Circuit d’Albi for a lunch in the heart of the paddock. Then, under a fine mist, the participants were put to the test again on the soggy track of the oldest French circuit. There was still to cross the Black Mountain with the focal point, in the distance, the impressive medieval city of Carcassonne.

The third stage heralded the return of sunshine before the Cévennes and gave pride of place to the road races which will have brought changes to the general classification. The ‘picnic’ lunch was then organized in an old sheepfold, Clos Trinité, shaded by hackberry trees whose panorama extended to the Mediterranean. The Devil’s Bridge and its eroded causses then hosted a very winding “special” to reach the fortress of Les Baux and an evening in the colors of Lamborghini and Roger Dubuis who exhibited their models.

For the fourth and last stage, we had to cross the Alpilles and the Lubéron to reach Le Luc and compete in the last event on the Circuit du Var in temperatures close to Indian summer. Lunch was taken not far from there, at the Château Réal d´Or, before heading back to the Estérel massif and enjoying the Var hinterland before reaching Nice. The passage through La Turbie then marked our descent towards the Principality of Monaco, where the final finish of this 5th edition of the Rallye Entre 2 Mers was judged, at the Hôtel Hermitage, a stone’s throw from the famous Casino.

The classification, contested throughout the 4 days of the rally, saw the HORN / HEBERT team win for the second consecutive year at the wheel of their Alfa-Roméo Giulia in the “Classic” category, while DEGENEVE / BOURRY won the “Prestige” category on their Toyota Supra. There is no doubt that they will be able to take advantage of the superb “trophies” intended for car and watch enthusiasts presented by Lamborghini and Roger Dubuis at the awards ceremony.

We look forward to seeing you soon for the announcement of the program for the 6th edition, with new destinations between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean seas.
