Back on the 6th Rally Entre 2 Mers
On Monday October 4, 2021, the participants had an appointment at the Hôtel du Palais in Biarritz for the traditional day of administrative checks, before the official start and the opening dinner of this 6th edition of the Rallye Entre 2 Mers. With the presence of the hyper-watchmaker Roger Dubuis, loyal partner of CNP2021 rallies, and Barons de Rothschild champagnes, there are 4 stages, some 1200km and above all 3 circuits that we had to face during this week of rally between Atlantic and Mediterranean.
For the first stage, the route quickly escaped the beaches of the Atlantic to allow everyone to warm up and reach the province of Navarre to do battle with the stopwatch on the Circuit de Navarra and its route with many bends so much. blind than on a slope, for strong sensations behind the wheel. Once the riding session was over, the competitors headed for Pamplona, capital of Navarre, famous for its Saint-Firmin festivals, where the bulls are usually launched in crazy races in the very heart of the alleys of the old town.
At the start of the second stage, the rally took the direction of the French Basque Country for a new route around the road to Saint-Jacques de Compostelle and its breathtaking views, although tarnished by the gray, but which have knew how to reveal itself as we progressed towards Iraty. In the afternoon, the Pau-Arnos circuit was on the program with its hilly and winding route, where everyone could enjoy flying, under a bright sun and blue sky, to everyone’s happiness!
The third stage started from Tarbes towards the Principality of Andorra and took a series of valleys and passes, despite a slight modification of the route necessary to bypass the Col du Tourmalet which was not accessible due to works, but which would give pride of place to the Hourquette d’Ancizan and the Col de Peyresourde, before reaching the Val d’Aran for lunch. Fairly short, the day also allowed a stopover in Andorra la Vella for a “shopping” break before going up to the Soldeu resort. neighboring slopes.
At the start of Andorra and the last stage, it was necessary to join the ultimate circuit race disputed on the very short and winding route of Pas de la Casa, which would serve as a justice of the peace for the competitors fighting for the general classification of the rally. Under an omnipresent sun, with the Mediterranean Sea in sight, the route then traversed Catalonia with a stop in Olot, in the very heart of the volcanic zone of La Garrotxa. The Costa Brava then stretched out its arms to us to enjoy the countless views of the “beautiful blue” and the side towards S’Agaro where the final finish of this 6th edition of the Rallye Entre 2 Mers was judged.
In the Classic category, let us note the hat-trick of the HORN / HEBERT crew who won the event for the third consecutive year at the wheel of their Alfa Romeo Giulia, while in the PRESTGE category, the ERVITI / CHAUDRE ETCHAR couple won on their Porsche Boxter GTS.
