Rally Entre 2 Mers 2018: from 8 to 12 October

The Rally Entre 2 Mers is a concept proposing both the discovery of a road trip linking Biarritz to Saint-Tropez and the opportunity to drive on racing circuits without restrictions.
The « best » of the regions crossed is selected to associate tourist ballad in the South of France and sporting drive.

Through this magnificent route, you will have the opportunity to crisscross the roads of the Basque Country to reach the mythical passes of the Pyrenees, then the Cévennes, Haut Languedoc and Provence of the Verdon, the Luberon, and finally the bay of Saint-Tropez.
A daily ranking will be established, taking into account both the points earned during the general culture quizzes that will be asked at the CPs, during the « coffee breaks », added to those taken during circuits sessions.


The drivers will be welcomed safely on the circuit of Pau Arnos, Alès and Grand-Sambuc.
The trails of these circuits are all very different and will allow everyone to find his own pleasure. In order to establish the most equitable classification possible, the cars will be divided into specific categories to which different coefficients will be applied.



On Tuesday 10 October, 44 crews gathered in St Tropez for the start of the second edition of the « Entre 2 Mers » rally organized by Cyril Neveu Promotion and linking St Tropez to the imperial city of Biarritz.
This year again, magnificent cylinders competed of beauty and exception … In this extraordinary panel you could admire the Ferrari, Porsche, Jaguar, Austin Healey, Maserati, Aston Martin, Shelby Cobra … all equally eager to get started to experience these 4 days out of time.

In the program of this second edition, magnificent regions to be crossed such as the gorges of Verdon, Provence and its incomparable Alpilles, the hills of the Cathar country, the massifs of the Eastern and Spanish Pyrenees as well as the Basque country.
On a more sporting level, the drivers were « dropped » on the circuits of the Grand Sambuc, the circuit of Andorra and the circuit of Pau-Arnos but also digged their memory to answer during the CPs, Questions created, around themes of the automobile and the knowledge of the regions crossed.

As it is now customary, on all the rallies organized by « Cyril Neveu », luxury, originality and conviviality allowed the competitors to live somewhat unusual situations such as the evening of departure, in St Tropez organized at the  » eternal and well named « Senequier ». That evening, the fairy-like spectacle of the magnificent boats anchored in the old port rivaled elegance with the extraordinary plateau of the cars of the rally, stationed on the harbor!

Wednesday, October 11th – Stage 1

The following morning, the cars and their crews left the Château de la Messardière, to live their first race on the Grand Sambuc circuit, near Aix en Provence before heading for Les Baux de Provence.
It is worth noting that, from this first circuit, two road exits: that of the « Shelby Cobra » by Thomas and Joy KERN and that of the « Ferrari 250 SWB » by Christian and Brigitte CHAVY. No negative consequences, since despite this « hot shot » Thomas and Joy KERN win the test of the « Classic ». In the « Prestige » category, the crew Didier BURBAN and Christophe FEVE at the wheel of their Ferrari 488 spider were the winners.

Thursday, October 12th – Stage 2

For the second stage of the rally between the Baux-de-Provence and Andorra, competitors were expected at the summit of the Envalira pass, at an altitude of 2,400 meters for the second run on the Andorra Circuit. sinuous trail has a peculiarity an interminable left turn.
At the end of this second event, we again find the « Shelby Cobra » of the crew Thomas and Joy KERN at the head of the Classic category. On the Prestige side, Didier BURBAN and Christophe FEVE were once again the winners of the Ferrari 488 Spider.

Friday, October 13th – Stage 3

On Friday, October 13, the 3rd stage of the rally between Andorra and Pau, the competitors took a break on the circuit and were able to admire the landscapes offered by the Spanish Pyrenees before joining Pau where they were welcomed Hotel du Parc Beaumont.

Saturday, October 14th – Stage 4

The next day, on Saturday, October 14th, for the fourth and final event of the rally, we witnessed a double drama with the abandonment in the « Classic category » of the first, Thomas and Joy KERN (Shelby Cobra) overheating of the motor.
And the reversal of the situation for Gilles HORN and Olivier HEBERT (Alpha Romeo Giulia) who also lost their 2nd place because of the questions asked to the CPs. It was François Maurey and Marieke Van Genuchtew (Austin Healey) and Karim Ben Ghanem and Nelly Rolland (Ferrari 328 GTS) who climbed the first two steps of the podium, followed by the crew of Georges SAIER and Carole de JONCKHEERE (Porsche 911. 2.8 RSR).

On the Prestige side, Eugenio PARADA and Joao COSTA (Mercedes SL) confirmed their victory of the previous day by winning the second edition of the « Entre 2 Mers », closely followed by Jean Michel MARIE and Julie BACHELLERIE (Aston Martin DB GT ), followed by Michel and Laurence GOSSE (Ferrari 458 Spider).

All the crews installed at the Hotel du Palais in Biarritz met on Saturday evening to celebrate the winners and to attend the awards ceremony around a tasty dinner. The atmosphere and the good mood dominated this closing evening, and one felt the satisfaction of all these competitors of having had the privilege to enjoy under the sun, these 4 days of relaxation and friendly competition of the « Rally Entre 2 Mers ».
