2019 – STAGE 2 / 10 OCTOBER : PAMPELUNE – PANTICOSA

It is from Pamplona and a cloudy day that the rally took the direction of the French Basque Country for an itinerary around the road to Compostela and its breathtaking views. A first control of passage to Arnéguy marked the entry into the Iraty massif and a steep day in altitude, the haze having dissipated during our passage.
A first regularity event was organized in this incredible massif and proposed an alternative challenge to circuit events.

After a busy morning in turns and narrow passages with guaranteed change of scenery, the lunch was held at the Chalet Pedro where everyone could enjoy the famous omelette ceps: a classic must!
In the afternoon, the caravan of the rally found Larrau and attacked some great passes of the Pyrenees such as the ascent of the Roche Saint-Martin, where a second event was organized before climbing the Marie Blanque pass not far from the legendary Aubisque pass.

While returning to Spain at the Pourtalet pass, the sun suddenly reappeared before the participants reached the new destination of the rally: Panticosa and its seaside resort that welcomes competitors for the night.
It is therefore in the heart of these mountains, at some 1700m altitude that we spend the night at the Grand Hotel, for a refreshing bowl of pure fresh air that will rejuvenate crews after a day with nearly 9000 meters of elevation gain!
