2018 – ETAPE 4 / 12 OCTOBRE : LES BAUX – SAINT-TROPEZ
With a start this morning at Les Baux de Provence under a radiant sun, competitors discovered the Alpilles in all their lengths, via the very famous perched village of Eygalières, before crossing the Rhône valley which marked our entry into the Lubéron. The villages of Menerbes, Bonnieux and Lourmarin made it possible to discover the splendours of this regional natural park, offering at the turn of these bends some breathtaking views of Mont Ventoux.
Then, the rally climbed the northern face of the Montagne Sainte-Victoire to reach the Grand Sambuc and its natural setting where was played the ultimate race circuit. The layout of the circuit is hilly and winding, with some bends rich in thrills!
We then took the road towards the Var to join the Château de Berne. This sublime “Relais et Châteaux”, hidden in the heart of a peaceful vineyard, where reigns an Olympian calm, far from the usual effervescence near the coast of the French Riviera.
After a deserved rest for lunch, competitors then traveled a short connection to Saint-Tropez that they reached by climbing the Garde-Freinet. Participants reached the Port of Saint-Tropez and then the Place des Lices where winners of the 3rd edition of Rally Entre 2 Mers were revealed!
In classics category, after dominating the rally since the first stage in Biarritz, the crew Jean Pierre & Patrick CLOUZEAU with Porsche Carrera No. 9 takes the top step of the podium. Gilles HORN & Olivier HEBERT, in the Alfa Romeo GTV 2000, have well defended their 2nd place against the brilliant recovery of Martin & Peter SCHMITT (Alfa Romeo Sprint GT) who complete the final ranking.
