2018 – STAGE 1 / 9 OCTOBER : BIARRITZ – PAU

At the start of Biarritz, it is in the fog that the competitors of the Rally Entre 2 Mers 2018 took today the road of the Basque country to face this first stage towards Pau.

The participants had plenty of time to explore the beautiful green areas leading to the Rhune before joining Ainhoa, Itxassou and Espelette which marked their entrance to the historic sites of the Basque country. We have indeed taken the path of Santiago de Compostela and its green passages culminating at more than 1200m altitude where pilgrims walk in search of salvation and where was organized a first check point!

By taking the altitude, the clouds have finally dissipated and it is under a radiant sun that the rally will go all day.

Unfortunately, the JAMMET / JAMMET crew broke down on the side of the road with their 1965 Shelby Cobra! Unable to pass without stopping to help them, Philippe MEDART will accompany his friend until the rest of the day.

Then the Iraty Forest greeted us in its center, where this time we were having lunch at the Auberge Ahusquy. After the meal, the rally took a new route towards the circuit of Pau-Arnos where we proposed the first circuit session and all the participants were able to have a great time, without restriction during a totally safe driving session behind the wheel of their cars!

Pau was then only about thirty kilometers away, to enjoy an evening in the heart of Beaumont Park and its hotel perched at the top of another circuit, the one of Pau-Ville this time!
