STAGE 3 / THURSDAY 7th OCTOBER / TARBES – SOLDEU

It is under an deep azure blue sky that the third stage started from Tarbes towards the Principality of Andorra to take a series of valleys and mountain passes. With a slight modification of the route, necessary to bypass the Col du Tourmalet which was not accessible, the itinerary gave pride to the Hourquette d’Ancizan and the Col de Peyresourde.

The majestic peaks of the Pyrenees have accompanied us throughout the day and the two special events on the program. These virgin urban lands led us to the Aran Valley and famous winter sports resorts like Vielha and Arties where lunch was organized in a Parador made of granite stones and with a slate roof.

After this gourmet stopover, the many hairpins of the Port of Bonaigua had to be crossed before leaving the high peaks behind us and reaching the valley of Rialp and Sort, leading to Seu d’Urgell, the point of entry into Andorra.

This fairly short stage also allowed a stopover in Andorra la Vella for a “shopping” break before going up to the Soldeu ski resort where everyone can now enjoy the superb Sport Hermitage & Spa hotel, a gigantic blond wood chalet, overlooking the neighboring slopes.

In the Classic category, the results were set in stone (except mechanical incident), while the fight is still raging in the Prestige category, where nothing is decided as the last day to S’Agaro approached. See you tomorrow to know the outcome of this 6th edition of the Rallye Entre 2 Mers!
